B Scotland - Sweden 2-6

C Switzerland - Canada 8-6
Switzerland and Canada had a tight game. But the Swiss managed to break the Canadian's unbeaten run. At the end of the ninth end Manuela Siegrist's Swiss side led by 7-6. But Rachel Homan's last stone narrowly wrecked on a guard and the Swiss stole a point to win 8-6.

C Switzerland - USA 4-6
The 3v4 playoff was a tighter game with the United States and Switzerland neck and neck on 4-4 by the end of the eighth end. Alexandra Carlson took two points in the ninth and although Swiss Skip Manuela Siegrist had the last stone in the tenth end she opted to concede rather than play the last stone with the USA lying three in the house. The final score was 6-4 and the USA now meets Sweden in the semi-final on Saturday evening.

Day 8:
Ladie's. Semifinal, 19:00
D USA - Sweden 1-6
Sweden-s Anna Hasselborg was in top form on Saturday evening, dominating Alexandra Carlson-s American side with steal after steal to win the junior women-s semi-final 6-1

14.03.2008 (Sunday)

Day 9:
Bronze Medal Game, 09:00
D Switzerland - USA 7-9 (EE)
In the bronze medal game Switzerland trailed the United States up until the seventh end when Manuela Siegrist's team took four to tie the game up 6-6. Play went into an extra end with the USA having the hammer last stone advantage. But Alexandra Carlson did not need to play her last shot, as Siegrist's last stone was heavy and left the USA lying two for a 9-7 win.

"The game went pretty quick," said Alexandra Carlson afterwards, "Except for that one end where we missed our two hits and gave them four, that wasn't very fun."

"We had a lot of bad stones," explained Swiss Skip Manuela Siegrist, "It was not possible to draw for two in the tenth end."

It is Sweden's first world junior women's gold medal title in ten years. Matilda Mattsson won the last gold for Sweden in 2000 in Geising, Germany.

For the USA, it is their first junior women's medal title since 2003, when Cassandra Johnson took silver when the junior championships were last staged in Flims.

Ladie's. Gold Medal Game, 09:00
B Sweden - Canada 8-3

Sweden won the junior women's gold medal at the World Junior Curling Championships in Flims, Switzerland. Canada took silver. In a game that went to an extra end, the USA won bronze over Switzerland.

The junior women's final started off looking as if it was going the Canadian's way, but Sweden's Anna Hasselborg turned the game around from the sixth end. Sweden took a point in the sixth end, two steals of two in the seventh and eighth and a final steal of one in the ninth end, taking the score to 8-3 for victory.

"I played my best game this time," said Anna Hasselborg after the win. "We knew that if we just played our best, we were going to go on top. You just see the shots and you make them."

For Canada, there was bitter disappointment after a very strong performance throughout the round robin and playoffs stage of the championships where they lost only one match on the road to the final. Stunned Skip Rachel Homan simply said "We just didn't curl our game today."

B Canada - China 7-1

In the junior men's bronze medal game Canada dominated China winning 7-1 in eight ends. It was the first time ever that China had made it to a junior men's world curling championship medal game.
Speaking after the game Chinese lead Wenli Guo said "We are young and we enjoyed getting this far." Canadian Skip Jake Walker said "Our goal coming into this was to make the playoffs. Winning bronze is good for us, we'd like to win gold but this is a good alternative." He added "We were told coming into this to expect the same competition as we had at nationals and that's what we got."

Men's. Gold Medal Game, 13:00
C Scotland - Switzerland 6-7

Switzerland junior men-s team won the Gold at the World Junior Curling Championships in Flims on Sunday with Scotland taking silver and Canada beating China to win the bronze.

In a final full of suspense, both teams were tied up 2-2 at the end of the fourth end, 4-4 at the end of the sixth and 6-6 in the ninth. Going in to the tenth the Scots had the hammer last stone advantage.

With Switzerland's final shot in the tenth, fourth player Benoit Schwarz nudged out the Scottish stone that had been lying shot on the button, leaving two Swiss stones frozen together to give Scottish skip Ally Fraser a really difficult attempt to remove them.

Fraser's weighted strike hit the first Swiss stone but jammed the second, leaving the second Swiss stone on the button to score the one shot needed for the win and the world championship title.

"It's amazing it's really the fruit of a lot of work," said Swiss skip Peter de Cruz on winning the game. "We all played together as a team really well." It is Switzerland's first junior men's gold medal title since Ralph Stoeckli skipped the Swiss junior men to victory in 1997 in Karuizawa, Japan.

Already de Cruz has his sights set on higher things "We still have some work ahead of us to arrive at the level of our national coach Ralph Stoeckli and his performance at the Olympic Games." The Swiss took bronze in Vancouver.
Scottish coach Tom Brewster gave his view of the last end saying "They got into a bit of difficulty and the Swiss played an absolutely perfect shot to give Ally no shot at all, it was absolutely first rate. That's curling for you."
