The 2011 European Mixed Curling Championship was held from September 30 to October 8 at the Tarnby Curling Club in Tarnby, Denmark. In the final, Switzerland, skipped by Thomas Lips, won their first title after a 93 defeat of Germany in seven ends. The Czech Republic picked up the bronze medal with a 76 win over home team Denmark in nine ends.

About Tarnby
About Tarnby Curling Club (www.taarnbycurlingclub.dk) The club was built in 1978 and further expanded in 2003 and 2011 to make a total of seven sheets of curling ice. In the 2011-2012 season the club will host the following events: the European Mixed Curling Championships and the
European Curling Championships C Group
(30 September - 8 October)
. From 3-8 January the
European Junior Curling Challenge 2012
will also be staged at the club.
About the Danish Curling Association
The Danish Curling Association was founded in 1971 and joined the WCF in the same year. Since the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan, when Denmark's Helena Blach Lavrsen took silver, interest in curling has grown with over 5000 Danes playing the sport today. Dedicated curling facilities exist in Hvidovre, Tarnby and Esbjerg, with a new rink currently under construction in Gentofte. In 2011, Esbjerg hosted the Capital One
World Women's Curling Championship
. Denmark is currently ranked 9th in the WCF world men's rankings and 4th in the women's rankings following a silver medal finish for Rasmus Stjerne's team in the
European Men's Championship 2010
and a fourth place finish for Lene Nielsen's team
at the 2011 Women's Worlds

About the WCF
The World Curling Federation (WCF) is the international sport federation governing the Olympic winter sport of curling and the Paralympic winter sport of wheelchair curling. The WCF is one of seven International Sports Federations currently part of the Winter Olympic programme. It represents 48 Member Associations and is generally acknowledged to direct one of the fastest-growing international winter sports.
